Transportation for Comox Valley Seniors

Grannies on the Go offers companionable transportation to all appointments, as well as help for shopping and errands. We offer companionable transportation to all medical and non-medical appointments, as well as help for shopping and errands. Our trained and certified care aides are happy to help seniors to get out and about in the community wherever they need to go.

It can be tough to assist someone into a normal vehicle if they have mobility issues, an injury, or even just a bit of unsteadiness. But whatever obstacle you may have encountered in trying to help your loved one get into a car, we’ve already thought of it and come up with a solution.

Safety First

All Grannies On The Go cars are equipped with car canes, swivel seats, transfer belts, first-aid kits, and emergency roadside kits. We have great respect for our clients’ dignity and work to maintain it, so we also travel with various “just-in-case” items that might be needed in a pinch, like sanitary pads, gloves, sanitizer, and a basic personal care kit.

Note: At this time, we provide transportation for clients who can weight-bear and transfer into a vehicle independently or with some assistance.

In a wheelchair or unable to transfer into a vehicle?

No problem! We also have arrangements for those who can’t weight-bear but still need to get out for errands and appointments. Grannies On The Go has a close working relationship with local taxi companies, as well as with handyDART, so we can accompany our clients as companions wherever they need to go using a wheelchair taxi or handyDART. We also arrange the handyDart or wheelchair taxi for you.

Our vehicles are all newer than 2012 and are serviced regularly for service and oil. A vehicle safety check is done every time each vehicle goes in to the shop for oil changes.

If clients have wheelchair parking passes, we recommend clients bringing them along to ensure smooth and easy parking when we are out and about in town.

All of our Comox Valley transportation services are available to anyone who needs a little extra assistance, not just seniors. If you’ve just had surgery, if you have an injury that prevents you getting around, if you’ve just had a baby…Call us! We can help.
